Northwood is a planned community that is comprised of the northern regions of Irvine, California. This Orange County neighborhood is bordered by Culver Drive, Jeffrey Road, Portola Parkway, and the Santa Ana Freeway.
Each Irvine community has its own personality. Northwood is known for it’s eucalyptus windrows that line the streets and surround the neighborhoods. Residents also have fantastic views of the Santa Ana Mountains. Most of these homes are single family residences that have been built on larger than average lots. This community is the only one that was not developed by the Irvine Company so many areas are not governed by Home Owners Associations. There are some like Park Paseo, Woodside, and Park Place that have fees to help maintain the community pools, spas, and clubhouse.
Northwood is within the Irvine Unified School District with four top rated elementary schools: Santiago Hills Elementary School, Northwood Elementary School, Canyon View Elementary School, and Brywood Elementary School. Middle school students attend Sierra Vista Middle School and high school students go to Northwood High School which has earned many Grammy Signature awards. There are several private schools in Irvine including University Montessori of Irvine, Creekside Children’s Center, and Tarbut V’torah Community Day School.
Irvine is known as one of the safest cities in Orange County. It is a planned community whose townships were divided into villages that are separated by six-lane streets. Points of interest include the Ayn Rand Institute, Heritage Park, Mariners Church, Islamic Center of Irvine, Pao Fa Temple, and the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial. There are many parks within the Northwood community including Carrotwood Park, Northwood Community Park, Pinewood Park, Silkwood Park, and Pepperwood Park.
